Questions
Fees, Saturdays and the rest of it
Is the first meeting really free?
Yes. The first half hour costs nothing, whether it’s at the office, on the phone or by video. You’ll leave knowing what we’d do and what it would cost.
How do you charge after that?
By the hour, or a flat fee for set pieces of work like a house closing or a company setup. Either way you get a fee letter before we start, with any filing, recording or title charges listed separately.
What papers should I bring along?
Whatever paper started this: the purchase agreement, the citation, the lease, the letter from the bank. Photos on your phone are fine.
Do you handle divorce or injury cases?
No. We refer divorce and custody, injury claims, bankruptcy and immigration to lawyers we know, and we’ll make the call with you if you’d like.
Do you take felony cases?
No. Bishnu handles misdemeanors, DUI and traffic. For a felony charge we’ll give you the names of defense lawyers who take them.
Can we meet on a Saturday?
Yes, between 9 and noon, by appointment. Book through the form or call the front desk.
Do you speak languages other than English?
Lucienne speaks French, Bishnu speaks Nepali and Hindi, and Birgit speaks German. For other languages we’ll arrange an interpreter.
Is the office accessible?
Yes. The side entrance off the parking lot has a ramp, and our meeting room is on the ground floor.
Ask us across the counter instead
Ask it at the free first meeting, or call the front desk.
